Highway to Happiness

We all live in a planet whose main holiday destination is called ‘Smiland ’, whose capital city is Happiness, but no one knows for certain its exact location. It is said some lands are closer than others, but none of the lands known is Happiness. What is sure about this is the fact that every person who wants to get there has to hitchhike so as not to get alone to the dreamt city. But why do those people have to hitchhike? The answer is as simple as that: no one would ever notice they are in Happiness unless they had some friends by themselves.

Once the traveller has chosen some good friends (or has been chosen by them), it is time to step on the gas and drive for miles. The travellers, who may meet additional hitchhikers, will have to make difficult decisions and will obviously find a huge number of obstacles on the way. But that is the life; travellers should just have to go on driving. However, there are some other issues (apart from the relevance of friendship explained above) that should better be taken into account:

Firstly, drivers must be in good health conditions to keep on moving. That means, no unhealthy person would ever visit Happiness in its whole splendour. Secondly, no vehicle can travel any distance unless it is periodically filled with fuel. If we extrapolate this condition to the real life, it means no food would bring any happiness to any home. Last, but not least, I have to mention the importance of a nice atmosphere all along the way. Travellers should entertain during the long distance to be driven with their favourite hobbies and improve their abilities, such as music or drawing. To sum up, the main requisite to reach true Happiness is to have all our necessities covered. But, does this include money?

We go back to our metaphor about travellers. The driver will necessarily find some bifurcations on the road. One of them shows a long path with so many bumps that make the driver take the shorter one, which is usually called the Money-way. This way, which firstly seems easier, usually makes the leader go faster, betraying in most cases his/her mates. Although this road looks perfectly paved, not everybody is able to face the risks you may run.

Money is not an goal in itself but simply a way, which is the result of the current capitalism system. There are no tolls to be paid in the highways to Happiness, and in case there are, they will not get to ‘Smiland ’ at all. Let us imagine a new economical system that would be named ‘aquism ’. This said system would measure the wealth of a country with litres of water inside. That way, the travellers would find rivers and paths along their journey and the Money-way would have never been created. Still, Happiness would still exist, while money would not.
